Description Blessed Sacrament - Organ and Gregorian chant (Flavigny)

In 2007, the Abbey of Saint Joseph de Clairval entrusted the restoration of the organ in the monastery church to the Muhleisen organ manufacturer. The effort being completed, it seems appropriate to offer our friends a selection of recordings that highlight the instrument's possibilities. Mr. Thierry Mechler, who is both professor of organ and improvisation at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, and organist for the Basilica of Our Lady of Thierenbach in Alsace, and also a friend of the community, has agreed to participate in this project by providing improvisations inspired by Gregorian pieces in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The pieces chanted by the entire community are an expression of the love at the heart of monastic life.
For each organ piece, Mr. Mechler offers a commentary that provides insight into the spirit of his improvisations.
